Is the glass half full or half empty? Why mindset makes the difference.
In 2025, I developed a mindset workshop concept for the Start-Up Lab at Hof University of Applied Sciences (FH Hof), focusing on the power of perspective. We explored the triggers that shape our attitudes: How can we consciously shift into a mindset that sees opportunities rather than one that sets limits? And how do we adapt our outlook to fit specific situations? Together, we analyzed real-world scenarios and discussed how different attitudes directly impact outcomes. Participants then practiced active perspective-shifting—demonstrating that you can, in fact, choose your mindset. The session concluded with an outlook on an upcoming multi-day hike, designed as a practical application where physical and mental challenges would put these mindset shifts to the test.
3 Key Learnings:
- Mindset is Malleable: You aren’t stuck with one perspective; you can actively choose to adjust your attitude.
- Practice Makes Perfect: Using concrete examples from professional life is the best way to make abstract psychological concepts tangible.
- Mindset Discussions Should Be Fun: It’s always a good sign when there is a lot of laughs in a workshop—it opens the door to deeper learning.
