How do I tell my story?
During the winter semester of 2025/26, I had the opportunity to conduct a Personal Branding Workshop at Hof University of Applied Sciences (FH Hof) and the Einstein 1 Startup Center. In this session, participants took a deep dive into their own identities: Which life moments have shaped you? What experiences—personal or professional—have you gathered? And how can your values, strengths, and attitudes be woven into a cohesive story that truly fits you?
Our goal was to find the “common thread” (the roten Faden) in each participant’s life, enabling them to communicate their story with confidence and conviction during elevator pitches or networking events. The participants brought a wealth of personal stories to the table, leading to lively discussions. I designed this format with numerous practical exercises aimed at helping people tell their stories authentically, incorporating moments for self-reflection and mental clarity. By the end of the session, we were able to hear several powerful personal narratives directly from the group.
3 Learnings
- Self-Investment Pays Off: Whether you are self-employed or looking for your next career move, taking the time to reflect on your personal brand is always worth it.
- Get Concrete: Practical exercises are essential; they provide the spark needed to start the journey or keep the momentum going.
- The Power of Openness: Following the principle of voluntary participation, once people choose to open up, entirely new perspectives emerge.
